Advertising disclosure

Last updated 18 September 2026

This site is free to use. Advertising is how we plan to pay for it, and these are the limits we put on ourselves.

How advertising works here

We show advertising supplied by an advertising network. We do not choose the individual adverts, and advertisers have no access to our pages before they are published.

Adverts are only loaded if you have agreed to advertising cookies. If you have not, no request is made to the advertising network at all — you will simply see no ads.

Where we never show ads

Some pages carry no advertising, ever:

  • Legal and transparency pages, including this one
  • Eligibility checkers and their results
  • Search results
  • Error pages

These are the pages where you are deciding whether to trust us, or where you have just told us something about your circumstances. Selling attention at that moment would be the wrong trade.

Advertising does not affect what we write

No advertiser has ever asked for, or received, a change to our content. We do not accept payment for a mention, a link, a review or a position in a list, and we do not write sponsored articles. If that ever changes, it will be labelled clearly on the page, not buried here.

We do not carry affiliate links to financial products.

Ads should not get in your way

Ad spaces are given a fixed size so the page does not jump while they load. We do not use pop-ups, interstitials that block the page, or adverts that follow you down the screen.

If an advert here is misleading, or looks like it is pretending to be part of the site, please tell us.
